A homeless man serving hot meals to other survivors at his restaurant and a bucket brigade fetching water from a swimming pool for other bathers are just a couple of the heart-warming scenes. The Japanese are not strangers to natural calamities. Holding their personal trauma at bay they are taking up individual responsibility to overcome the latest disasters with grace and resilience.
